About Bruce Allinson
From Newcastle upon Tyne now living and working in Low Fell (Robert) Bruce Allinson (AKA Bruce Sterling until 1979) has worked in the creative industries of Photography and Graphic Design across all sectors since 1979. Over the years I have been able to enjoy the freedom of large corporate budgets, the challenges of public sector projects and more than anything else the tight budgets and large asks of the Charity Sector.
In 1999 I focused on good causes and established the registered Charity “Graphic Design Aid” to help service the charity sector with professional design and advertising services. I’m very proud of all that the volunteers at Design Aid achieved. In a very short time well over a £1 million worth of professional support was injected into good causes and the charity sector.
More recently I have turned most of my efforts to internet marketing and some selected design projects and of course the new Design Aid Project (that I hope will pick up where the administration heavy “Graphic Design AId Ltd” left off). In doing so I have left the shackles of a permanent city centre office and the commute behind me and enjoy a (still busy) much more liberating and financially sound life with a passive income to complement my continued delivery of professional creative services to the Third Sector and small businesses.
Outside of Design and the Arts my other permanent passion in life has been for motorcycles. I enjoy supporting local short circuit racing by helping out the North East Motorcycle Racing Club (NEMCRC) and currently own and enjoy a couple of road bikes.
My history of creative services

My past business interests have included; Allinson’s Photography, Bruce Allinson Design then The Studio Cooperative followed by The Studio. I could present you with my a professional “brand” and offer you an impressive list of experience and big business clientèle as I have in the past on my websites. But this is my blog for stuff of interest involving Art Design and Motorcycles so you wont find that here unless it is something interesting or nostalgic of course. I find I can now take a relaxed and friendly approach to my work. I no longer have need for a business website brimming over with hard line graphics and marketing speak (bullshit) or even a brand. However, you can find something more along these lines supporting my efforts in the Charity Sector at www.designiad.org.uk
Here at bruceallinson.com I will publish all my interest around Art, design and motorcycles, here on these pages for everyone; clients, bikers and friends alike and keep my design work as a supportive role mostly in the charity sector.
