British motorcyclists have been asked for views on a raft of European proposals for bikes including mandatory ABS and measures to prevent tuning.A consultation launched by the Department for Transport gives riders until October 28 to respond.Roads Minister Mike Penning said: “This is a chance for both motorcycle manufacturers and riders to have their say on this new EU Regulation. “I hope as many people as possible will respond to the consultation and give us the benefit of their knowledge and experience as we progress towards the negotiating stage on these new rules.”Tuning could become impossible and home-servicing severely hampered under European Commission proposals.All new bikes could get so-called on-board diagnostic OBD systems capable detecting non-standard parts and triggering a warning light until the ‘fault’ is rectified by a dealer.One aim is to prevent any modifications to the ‘powertrain’ which rider groups fear could include anything from the throttle to rear tyre.Find the consultation here: www.dft.gov.uk/consultations

Despite all the advantages motorcycles bring to society such as reduced congestion fewer emissions, burning less fuel and a huge sports and leisure industry providing lots of business and jobs etc. we are still a minority that no one cares about!

Bering leathers ambassador, Maria Costello MBE, made history by becoming the first woman to achieve two podium finishes on the mountain course by taking third place, with a dramatic push to the finish, in Monday’s Motorsport Merchandise 250cc race.Racing a Bob Jackson Suzuki T20 two-stroke for the first time around the TT course, Maria set off from number 64 on the road and despite encountering traffic as early as on as Quarterbridge she was lying in fourth place, only 3 seconds back on third place.

Concept futuristic motorcycle for Hyundai
This thing looks just plain leathal to me – you have an off on that and you can fall off like any motorcycle but all that frame work will keep you tangled up with the bike when you want to get away from the damn thing. Whoever drew that up can not have been on a motorcycle, if they have some one needs to up the dose of their medication.
Hyundai not only produced automobiles and heavy equipment, but also motorcycles.Designed the bike to be made of a material that can expand and contract to help the way the bike handles, like our bodies synonymously have muscles to help us do basically everything.

The Manx Motor Cycle Club are both excited and delighted to announce that the number of entries received for the 2011 Manx Grand Prix is up to 506 compared to 457 in 2010. The race showing the greatest increase in interest is the 3 lap Newcomers Race (scheduled for Saturday 27th August), with entries up from 39 in 2010 to 56 for 2011.
